Online course · Fully revised for 2026

Master GMS, PCRS and the State Schemes for 2026

Scattered guidance, outdated circulars and learning on the job leave capable practice teams second-guessing every claim. This course brings it all together in one place: practical, current and built from more than 25 years in healthcare management, nearly 20 of them inside Irish GP practices.

  • 11 video lessons
  • Self-paced, online
  • Certificate on passing

Paid course. Enrolment is completed through Kajabi's secure checkout.

Who it is for

Built for the people who make the claims

Written for the non-clinical team members who handle GMS and PCRS work day to day, and for the GP principals who rely on them.

  • Practice managerswho oversee claiming, subsidies and the practice's income from the State Schemes
  • Practice secretaries
  • Receptionists
  • Administrative staffworking with GMS and PCRS
  • GP principalswho want a clearer understanding of practice claiming and reimbursement

Why it matters

Half the picture is where claims go wrong

Most claiming problems are not caused by carelessness. They come from good people doing their best with half the picture. This course gives them the whole of it.

The complete picture, in one place

GMS, PCRS and the State Schemes explained together, so you see how each claim connects to the next instead of piecing it together from scattered sources.

Capitation, STCs and CDM in context

The claims your practice deals with every week, explained the way they actually work at the desk, so you understand what is being claimed and why.

Subsidies, leave and supports made clear

Practice support subsidies, leave entitlements and other grants set out in plain terms, so you know what your practice may be entitled to and where to look.

Taught from inside the practice

Guidance from someone who has done the work at the desk, reconciled the statements and resolved the queries, rather than theory from the outside.

In practice

Be the person your practice turns to when a claim does not add up

When you understand how claims are made, paid and reconciled, the questions stop landing on the GP's desk. You know where to look on the statement, how to approach a query and which claims are worth checking.

The course is designed to build that understanding, lesson by lesson, and to give you knowledge you can apply in everyday practice administration.

Your tutor

About your tutor, Asumpta Gallagher

I spent nearly twenty years working inside GP practices before I founded Best Practice. I built this course to give practice teams the clear, practical understanding of GMS and PCRS that I would have valued at the start, and that I see teams searching for every week.

Asumpta founded Best Practice in 2018 after nearly two decades working inside Irish GP practices, from single-handed practices to large group practices. Today she consults with practices across Ireland and designs and delivers training for non-clinical teams, from practice managers to reception and secretarial staff.

It is built from the inside. Every lesson reflects how claims actually move through an Irish practice: who records what, where things go wrong and how to put them right. The aim is practical understanding you can apply at your desk, not a summary of the rules.

Yes. The course opens with GMS Foundations and builds lesson by lesson from there. Experienced team members find it just as useful, because it fills the gaps that years of learning on the job can leave behind.
