More than ever before, GPs, Practice Nurses, and entire GP practice teams are incredibly busy. The last 18 to 20 months have seen so many changes in how Healthcare is delivered. There has also been a massive increase in the use of technology, telemedicine, and Electronic Prescribing. From my experience, working with Practices in all parts of the country, it has become increasingly difficult to find the time to take a step back to look at how your Practice is performing as well as ensuring that you and your staff are supported.
Sometimes we just need to press the PAUSE button to help deal with the many challenges that continue to present themselves. Being able to take a step back and examine your Practice from the outside in is not only crucial but provides multiple benefits. Not only does this ensure you continue to give your patients the very best level of care, but it can also help to create an improved working environment for you and your team.
it can be very easy to simply keep doing things the way they have always been done.
When you are busy, it can be very easy to simply keep doing things the way they have always been done. However, just because that is the way it has always been done does not always mean it’s the best way.
In my experience, employing a fresh pair of eyes can give you a whole new perspective of your practice. When you are working in your Practice every day, you become accustomed to doing things a certain way. As you continue to be ‘BUSY’ it can become sometimes lead to overwhelm when trying to deal with the workload associated with Patient Care alongside the challenges that come from running a business and managing a team of people.
That fresh pair of eyes will help you to take that much-needed step back to evaluate your current practices. It will highlight and identify changes you could make to improve work/life balance for staff and create the very best practice possible.
