Best Practice in Conversation – Episode 3 The COVID_19 Vaccine Rollout

In Conversation with Ann Mulligan, Practice Manager, Bedford Medical Centre

The Vaccine rollout has been both a joyous occasion and a massive stressor for General Practice, In this Interview, Ann describes the sense of joy during the vaccine rollout in her Practice.

Ann Mulligan

The last year has been so challenging for GPs, Practice Nurses, and all Practice Staff as they have juggled the needs of patients while trying to stay safe as well as ensuring a safe environment for their patients. The vaccine is seen as a sign of hope, a light at the end of a long dark tunnel. The older population or people with lots of life experience, as described by GP Dr Illona Duffy, are so precious to us. They brought a sense of joy and gratitude to General Practice, as they arrived to receive their first dose of the Vaccine in Practices throughout the Country.

Anne shares the rollercoaster that has been associated with the rollout including the logistics, the joys, the frustrations, the stress but ultimately that feeling when elderly patients arrived to receive their vaccine.

As the rollout continues over the next few weeks and months, we can all hopefully look forward to a time when we can once again see our families, our friends and our loved ones.
